Before you start
Creating, editing, and deleting relationships requires admin access. If you do not see Relationships in Settings, ask an admin in your organization to set the relationship up for you.
Create a relationship
- Go to Relationships in Settings.
- Click Create relationship.
- Under Main object, choose the object the relationship starts from.
- Under Connected object, choose the object you want to link to. Choose the same object on both sides to link records of one type to each other, such as accounts to other accounts.
- Under Connection type, choose how many records can be linked on each side. See Choose the connection type below.
- Under Relationship names, enter the label to show on main object records and the label to show on connected records. These become the section headings a user sees on each record.
- Add an optional relationship description, then click Create relationship.
When both sides are the same object, the two relationship names have to be different from each other. Reevo uses them to tell the two sides apart on the record.
Choose the connection type
Connection type sets how many records can be linked on each side, and it is always read from the main object outward. Choosing which object is the main object is therefore part of choosing the type.Example: one parent account with several child accounts
Choose Accounts as both the main object and the connected object, then pick the connection type that matches the side you want to start from:- Parent as the main object: choose One to many. Name the main object side something like “Child accounts” and the connected side “Parent account”. Each parent then holds many children, and each child has one parent.
- Child as the main object: choose Many to one. Name the main object side “Parent account” and the connected side “Child accounts”. This models the same hierarchy from the child’s point of view.
Link records
- Open the record you want to link from, for example an account.
- Go to the Related records tab.
- Find the section named after the relationship and click the + button, or click Link record if nothing is linked yet.
- Select the records you want, then click Add.
Troubleshooting / FAQs
I see 'This relationship is already at capacity'
I see 'This relationship is already at capacity'
The relationship allows a single linked record from this record’s side, and one is already linked. Remove the linked record to swap it for a different one. If you need several records linked instead, the relationship was created with a connection type that caps this side at one, and an admin needs to recreate it with the direction you want.
The picker says I can link only one record, but I need several
The picker says I can link only one record, but I need several
This is the connection type, not a limit on your plan or your data. Check the relationship in Settings: the side you are linking from has to be the “many” side. For one parent holding several children, the parent has to be the main object on a one to many relationship, or the child has to be the main object on a many to one relationship.
Can I change the connection type after creating a relationship?
Can I change the connection type after creating a relationship?
No. Only the two relationship names and the description can be edited afterward. To change the connection type or swap which object is the main object, delete the relationship and create it again. Deleting removes all existing links between records, though the records themselves are not deleted.
Can I link a record to another record of the same object?
Can I link a record to another record of the same object?
Yes. Choose the same object as both the main object and the connected object. A record cannot be linked to itself, and the two relationship names have to differ.
Which objects can I build a relationship between?
Which objects can I build a relationship between?
